Why we love it

The GriGri + is the most forgiving device in Petzl's belay range, and the one we point people towards when they're learning. Cam-assisted blocking does the heavy lifting when a climber falls or weights the system, while the anti-panic handle stops the rope feeding through if the lever is pulled too hard – exactly the reflex that catches out newer belayers. ASSIST + mode pre-activates the cam's blocking action, making it easier to take up slack and helping limit the risk if the brake strand is accidentally released. The handle and camming mechanism give a 3:1 mechanical advantage, so controlling the rate of descent stays smooth regardless of rope diameter. A stainless steel friction plate handles heavy use, and all plastic components including the handle are made from recycled nylon.

Features
