Why we love it

This is not simply a lace-up version of its Velcro counterpart. While the last is based on the longstanding Vapor V, it isn't the same – the Lace provides a little more volume, along with extra power, rigidity, and precision in the toe box, bringing together a host of features to create a serious performance route shoe. Alongside the lacing system, the microfibre upper is supported by a TPU frame incorporated into the lacing harness and wrapping under the shoe to increase hold and minimise stretch. The Bi-Tension™ system supplies toe-to-heel support, while a unique D2 rubber rand – a fusion of the adaptability of M50 and the containment of M70 – increases forefoot precision and hold while maintaining toe-knuckle comfort. The PAF heel system disperses pressure from the Achilles for comfort over long routes.

• Vibram® XS Edge: A firm, supportive edging compound offering precise weight distribution on the smallest holds – high resistance to deformation for stability and shape retention in hot and cold conditions. Full-length platform.
• TPU Frame: A thermo-polyurethane frame incorporated into the lacing harness and wrapping under the shoe – increasing hold and minimising stretch for precise power transfer.
• D2 Rubber Rand: A fusion of two compounds combining the adaptability of M50 with the containment of M70 – increasing forefoot precision and hold while maintaining toe-knuckle comfort and protection.
• Bi-Tension™ Active Rand: A tensioned rubber wrap extending from the toes to the heel down both sides of the shoe – supplies toe-to-heel support while leaving the centre pad free for sensitivity.
• PAF – Pressure Absorbing Fit Heel: An innovative heel construction that improves force distribution and reduces pressure on the Achilles via a softer rubber bridge connecting the tension-system flaps. Hole count indicates tension: 1 low, 2 medium, 3 maximum.
• Flexan Midsole with wing: A full-length 1 mm Flexan midsole that curves up the spine of the heel, with a forefoot "wing" wrapping the outside edge beneath the outsole and rand – increasing rigidity laterally and lengthways.
